If you would like to take a look, this article has a large number of pictures of Norilsk, northernmost large city on the planet (and also one of the most polluted cities). The writer describes the city as “a polluted hell on Earth”, which was quite a bit less favorable than even how I described it. However, when you look at the pictures, it’s tough to make a case that it’s something other than a very dirty city.

He also included a picture of this, the oldest house in the city:

Perhaps the only antiquated looking building in the area, which gives away the recency of its founding relative to other large, Russian cities.
